About Us

The Washington International Japanese Church is an evangelical Protestant church, affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Our mission is to reach the Japanese-speaking people in the Greater Washington area with the Gospel of Christ

Sunday Events — Morning

9:30am—10:25am Children’s Sunday School

10:40am—10:45am Pre-service Prayer

10:45am—12:00pm Worship Service (Simultaneous Interpretation from Japanese to English for the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month; we provide the English outlines for the message for other Sundays)

The worship service is the mainstay of the church, and includes praise songs and prayer time, as well as a message based in a story from a Bible passage. We welcome both those who have never attended church and longtime Christians to join us. Those with small children are also welcome to leave them in the care of volunteer sitters in an adjoining nursery and playroom.

12:00pm—12:30pm Fellowship

・Curry Lunch 2nd week of the month only, 12:30pm—1:30pm

Participation in the lunch is $1.50 for adults, $1.00 for children under six, and free for children under three.

・Potluck Lunch  4th week of the month only, 12:30pm—1:30pm

From I-66 Westbound, take exit57B (Rt. 50 West) and drive 1.1 miles
Take the West Ox Road (State Rt. 608) North exit and drive 1.5 miles
When you see large, light blue-green water storage tanks on the right side, you are nearing the turn.
At the stoplight just past the tanks, turn right onto Vale Rd.
The church is on the right just down at the bottom of the hill, only 0.2 miles.
Room 206: After entering the building’s side entrance, turn right and go up the stairs.

Rev. Saigo is married and has two daughters. He received a BA in Biblical studies with a minor in Biblical Language studies from Asbury College. He received Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, and his Master of Theology in Old Testament Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. He also completed the two-year course work for the Ph. D. program in Old Testament at Drew University with good academic standing. However, due to ministerial demands he decided to take leave of absence in 1996.He has started two Japanese churches in the States: one in Princeton, NJ in 1991, and another right outside New York City in 1996. He also pastored for ten years in Japan before coming to the States, and was involved in two major interdenominational campaigns in Japan as an assistant to the general secretary of those campaigns (’80 and ’82).
